Capacity is only useful when it matches the task. Use the Starlink Mini Battery field guide to compare the 189Wh reference with your real workload.
Measure the work you actually do
Record a representative mix of calls, browsing, uploads and idle time. Include a laptop or phone if it shares the battery.
Usable energy divided by average system load gives an estimated runtime. Rated battery capacity is not the same as the energy delivered through the complete setup, so allow for losses and changing conditions.
Use capacity comparisons carefully
A 189Wh battery contains more rated energy than a 99Wh or 130Wh battery, but that comparison alone does not establish the runtime of different products. Their outputs, losses, protection behaviour and test conditions can differ.
Compare complete setups using the same workload and measurement method where possible.
Read the MK-1 reference correctly
MK-1 has 189Wh of rated energy. Approximately 5โ8 hours of Mini runtime is supported by internal testing. Actual runtime varies with usage, settings and conditions; the range does not guarantee an eight-hour workday.
Mini uses the dedicated 30V / 2A max DC output. Other devices connected to USB-C draw from the same battery reserve.
Decide how to extend the session
Plan a charging opportunity or backup source before the battery becomes low. MK-1 supports USB-C charging while powering Mini through DC, with net charging dependent on input and load.
Reduce non-essential loads where practical, keep time-sensitive work within your tested runtime, and leave reserve for tasks that take longer than expected.
