POWER TROUBLESHOOTING

Starlink Mini starts, then turns off

Use a short sequence to isolate output, cable and protection problems.

Record what actually stops

Note whether the terminal loses power, the power source resets, or the app reports a connection problem while the power remains on. These are different symptoms.

Record the battery level, connected devices and timing. A shutdown at startup may have a different cause from one that appears after the equipment has warmed up.

Check compatibility first

Confirm the requirements for the exact connection you are using. A battery’s combined wattage rating does not describe every individual port or power profile.

For a USB-C path, review the power-bank guide and Starlink’s current requirements. For MK-1, use the dedicated Mini DC output and intended cable.

Run a controlled comparison

  1. Charge the source according to its instructions.
  2. Inspect and reseat the cable when safe to do so.
  3. Remove extra devices and unnecessary adapters.
  4. Try a known-working, compatible cable and source.
  5. Change one part at a time and record the result.

Do not bypass a protection feature. Stop using visibly damaged equipment or a connection with abnormal heat.

Send useful details to support

If the problem continues, include the source model, output used, cable, battery state and the point in the startup sequence where it stops. A short video or app message can help explain the symptom.

For MK-1 questions, use the contact form. For terminal or service issues, use Starlink support.
