This guide focuses on startup handshakes and unexpected shutdowns. For the complete system plan, use the Starlink Mini off-grid power guide.
Separate energy from output
Watt-hours describe stored energy. Port ratings describe the output available under stated conditions. A battery can have charge remaining while a connection reaches an output or protection limit.
Check the specific port, cable and device requirements rather than the largest number printed on the power bank.
Check the USB-C power profile
Starlink specifies a USB PD source of at least 100W at 20V/5A for its Mini USB-C power path, and excludes 65W-or-lower PD sources. Verify the profile and suitable cable in the official USB power guidance.
MK-1โs dedicated Mini output is DC 30V / 2A max. Its separate USB-C input/output is rated up to 65W and should not be substituted for the intended Mini DC connection.
Inspect the whole connection
- Check battery state and the individual port rating.
- Remove unnecessary extensions and shared loads.
- Inspect connector fit, cable condition and visible damage.
- Review temperature and the sourceโs protection indicators.
- Compare with a known-working compatible source and cable.
Change one variable at a time. Repeatedly bypassing or retriggering protection is not a repair.
Plan runtime separately
Once the connection is stable, test it with the workload you expect to use. MK-1โs approximately 5โ8-hour Mini runtime reference is based on internal testing and varies with actual conditions.
If the problem remains, record the source model, port, cable, workload and shutdown timing before contacting support.
